It can be helpful for potential clients to understand my approach to technical editing and information design – feel free to reach out with any questions.
Working Together

Whether I work with writers, designers, or subject matter experts, my role as a technical editor remains the same – to bring clarity and coherence to a project while considering the stakeholder’s voice. Editing and design are iterative, and I see my job as guiding ideas toward their most effective form – in other words, when they meet an audience’s needs and achieve their intended purpose.
As a collaborator, I foster open communication, offer and receive constructive feedback, and ensure that the final product aligns with its goals and audience. I facilitate smooth cooperation through digital tools and structured workflows that keep projects on track without losing sight of their creative vision.
The Role of an Informational Designer-Editor

Information design is far more than just editing text; rather, it is about organizing, structuring, and presenting information to forefront the text’s intended message. My job is to make information correct, intuitive, and visually appealing. This is often accomplished by deliberate layout choices, accessible typography, and the incorporation of visual elements.
Above all, though, I consider audience expectations and the broader purpose behind every document or text. An information designer bridges content owners and their audiences, advocating for clarity on an audience and client level.
My Process and Design Principles

Once I’ve connected with a client and understand the scope of the project, my design and editing process follows four key phases:
- Structure – I evaluate layout, organization, and visual hierarchy to ensure that content is easy to navigate and understand.
- Copy Editing – I refine language, grammar, and style to ensure clarity while maintaining the writer’s intent. Strong writing is precise, consistent, and engaging.
- Proofreading – I look for inconsistencies, typos, and minor errors that might distract from the impact of the content.
- Final Formatting – I ensure documents meet style guide requirements so the final product is seamless and professional.
I aim for designs that prioritize function over ornamentation, ensuring that content is as intuitive as it is engaging. That said, visual appeal is essential to the way texts are received.
A Note about AI

I recognize that the effectiveness and popularity of artificial intelligence as a writer, artist, designer, and general brainstorming device have risen significantly in the last few years. While I also recognize that AI can be helpful in these areas, I do not believe it can or should be a substitute for a human-centered text. Working with me will bring a personal, audience-focused approach to your project.
I will, of course, be transparent about any role that AI plays in my content and will consider any inherent biases or mistakes that AI-generated suggestions or edits may unintentionally introduce into my work. I will also take responsibility for the credibility and accuracy of my work.
